  3. Schooling/ Training • Pharmacists require two years of undergraduate studies, and three to four years of professional pharmacy studies to obtain their Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The Schooling could cost anywhere from $63,000, to $120,000. Prices vary depending on scholarships, whether you attend a private or public school, and if you attend school instate, or out of state. Some schools that offer pharmacology studies are: Purdue University, University of California, San Francisco, Ohio State, University of Southern California, and many more.

  4. Career Practicality • A pharmacist’s job is usually stress free, yet can be fairly repetitive. A pharmacist can work at a hospital, private practice, or nursing home. A normal day consists of talking to people about making healthy choices, and what medicines to use together, or what not to use together. If a patient needs help with using a medicine such as an inhaler, the Pharmacist will help. Another very common task is prescribing medicine, and administering medications. Pharmacists quite often keep track of pill inventory, and patient prescriptions.

  5. Starting Salary/ 10 Year Benefits • The starting salary for a pharmacist without any experience is around $64,000. This all varies on where you work, however some of the best paying pharmacy jobs are in Santa Cruz, Napa, and El Centro California. After working 10 years you can expect your salary to double around $120,000. Some pharmacy job benefits can include: 401(k) retirement plans, medical, dental, and vision healthcare, short term/ long term disability benefits, life insurance, and paid time off.
