  2. Objectives completed as seen on CPT leaflet Welcome... Welcome to the Career Promotion Team (CPT) under Warwick Hong Kong Society. The objective of the sub-committee is to provide you useful information concerning career matters, which will help you on exploring different options and planning your future in advance. Although the CPT is newly set up this year, but we all believe that it is worthwhile to spend time and dig into this area as all of us will soon be entering another stage of our life, and it is never too early to start thinking about your career since competition is huge nowadays. So, why not spend a few minutes to read what is in this leaflet? You will find out more about the CPT, which includes the details of the team members, proposed projects, etc. All the information contains in this leaflet should give you a general idea of what the team does, and after you finish reading it, please do not hesitate to ask if you have queries, any feedbacks and opinions to us will be more than welcome. The CPTwishes you all best of luck on your study and have an exciting future ahead of you. • Who helps you… • Warwick Hong Kong Society CPT is formed by 6 of us, which we are categorized into different streams. • Legal and Natural Science: Eric Leung, PPIE, Vice president of WKHS • IT: Carven Liu, Economics, IT committee of WHKS • Engineering: Jojo Leung, Engineering • Financial: Jose Wong, Economics • Non-Financial (Business): Prema Cheung, Management Science • All others: Jonathon Mok, MORSE • Proposed Project… • The list below shows what the CPT is planning to achieve this year. • .Approaching & Meetings with Firms • Keep recruitment news updated • Promote the brand name of Warwick • .Informing you regularly through • Website (Activities, Internships, etc.) • E-Mail (Reminders, News, etc.) • Newsletters (Reviews, Articles, etc.) • .Providing advice through • Career seminars (Private Sector, AO, etc.) • Interviews with prominent figures (HKSAR London Office Rep., etc.) Welcome... Administrative Officer Career Seminar • Guest Speaker: Mrs Carrie Lam , JP (林鄭月娥 太平紳士), Director-General of Hong Kong Economic Trade Office in London. • Application methods, selection procedures & statistics and career prospects of Administrative Officer • Development prospect of Hong Kong Economy in general.

  4. Extraordinary number of Hong Kong students turned up • Described by the Director-General as ‘the better ’[relative to other Universities] A.O. Seminar this year, referring to the rundown, attendance and arrangements. • First university this year to hold the A.O. Seminar in UK

  5. 2. Meetings and interviews with prominent figures • After the successfully-held AO seminar {described by Mrs Lam as probably the best AO seminar among other UK universities}, we received the invitation, which, Executive Committee of WHKS, were among the 21 Hong Kong students studying in UK to attend Reception with Mr. Donald Tsang, GBM (曾蔭權GBM), during his first official visit to London as Chief Executive of HKSAR. • Had an interview with Mrs. Carrie Lam, JP, Director-General of HK Economic and Trade Office in London for the WHKS Newsletter.

  9. Updates of Careers in Hong Kong • Regular updates of job opportunities and internship news in Hong Kong via WHKS e-mail system.

  10. Establish connection in Hong Kong • E.g. with Warwick Hong Kong Office • With other firms via liaison in X’mas and Easter

  12. Firm Visit • Visited KPMG in Central, Hong Kong, on 19th December, 2005 with our LSE counterpart. (please see attached review by Prema)

  13. Career Seminar [Private Sector] (TBC) • Invite speakers from Human Resources departments of private firms to talk about selection procedures. • Invite speakers from Chartered Accountancy etc. professional association to talk about career aspects and professional qualifications of their respective professions. • Invite past interns to talk about their experience • Invite speaker from Career Team of Warwick University to talk about application tips.

  14. Career Workshop • Interactive tasks to develop students interview and application skills • Aptitude test or accessment centre trial (coming by the end of this term !)

  15. WGAHK Internships • Warwick Graduation Association (Hong Kong) Business/ Legal internship programmes for Warwick students.
