These three are justification, regeneration and sanctification” • Series on sanctification • God is holy; therefore we need to be holy, or sanctified. Our sanctification is in God's will and His restorative plan. • Highly relevant to us as Christians and church
Some peculiar laws… • God took the children of Israel out of Egypt and into the promised land. • Prohibition against sowing with two kinds and mixed of textile • Food Prohibitions. • Purity lessons: Cleanliness, diseases (health), morality and worship. • Conveys the basic ideas of sanctification
A simple definition of sanctification • It is the process of: • Taking from a position of unholy to holy. • Taking from a state of unclean to clean - in health, conduct, and worship • Separation
Sanctification as a process of separation • Loved • Peculiar treasure - Exod 19:5, Psalm 135:4, Deu 7:7, 10:15 • Selection (Election; Deu 7:6) • Un-mixing • Purifying / cleaning • regeneration and justification • Restoration
Lesson of Separation • You are different! • You are especially loved (John 3:16) • You are called (1Pet 2:9, 2Pet 1:3) • You are renewed (Titus 3:5) • You are redeemed (Joh 1:29, 3:17) • You are justified (Rom 3:24) • You are transformed (Rom 12:2, Col 3:10)
Application: • Consequence of being different • Different from the world in value • Different conduct • Rejected by the world (Joh 15:18-19)
Conclusion • Sanctification as separation. • Because you are loved • You are chosen • You are to be different (holy)
