  1. Raising A Godly Family 1 Peter 1:3-21

  2. 1 Peter 1:3-21; “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time… How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  3. 1 Peter 1:3-21; “6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen[a] you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls… How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  4. 1 Peter 1:3-21; “10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into… How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  5. 1 Peter 1:3-21; “13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  6. 1 Peter 1:3-21; “17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.” How can we counter the influence of the world on our families? How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  7. This is about you!! • “17 Since YOU call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out YOURtime as foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For YOUknow that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that YOUwere redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to YOUfrom your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” 1 Peter 1:17-19 {NIV} • The 1st thing I noticed in I Peter was that the spirituality in our homes has got to be based on our relationship with Jesus. • Does my spouse and my children see Jesus in me? “Is there a family resemblance?” {Galatians 2:20} How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  8. Galatians 2:20; “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  9. The foundation of our homes…Blood of Jesus • “17…live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” 1 Peter 1:17-19 {NIV} • With the “blood of Christ” comes responsibilities: {John 15:10; Ephesians 6:4} How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  10. John 15:10;; “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  11. Ephesians 6:4{KJV}; “…fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  12. The foundation of our homes…Blood of Jesus • “17…live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” 1 Peter 1:17-19 {NIV} • With the “blood of Christ” comes responsibilities: {John 15:10; Ephesians 6:4} • There has to be moral imperatives, house rules, clearly defined consequences, and the courage upon both parents part to carry out the necessary… How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  13. This world is NOT our home! • “This world is not my home…I’m just a passing through…my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue…the angels beckon me from heaven’s open door…And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.” • 2 Peter 3:10-11 How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  14. 2 Peter 3:10-11; “10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness…” How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?

  15. This world is NOT our home! • “This world is not my home…I’m just a passing through…my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue…the angels beckon me from heaven’s open door…And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.” • 2 Peter 3:10-11 • Jesus put it fairly harshly: “For what shall it profit a man (or his children, or his grandchildren, or great grandchildren, or his nephews and nieces), if (they) shall gain the whole world, and lose (their) souls?” {Mark 8:36} How can we counter the influence of the world in our families?
