COME SEE THIS AND THAT WITH THE CAT IN THE HAT!!!! 5th Grade Math It’s hard to believe that it is already April! Currently, the students in 5th grade math are wrapping up their unit on polygons and volume. Next, we will begin the mad rush to complete as much as we can prior to the MCAS testing in May. We will soon be covering algebraic thinking, converting between units of measurement, and collecting and representing data. Anytime students can get some extra math practice outside of school is very helpful. Having students continue to practice their multiplication facts, operating with decimals and fractions, and studying vocabulary related to geometry would benefit them in preparation for the transition to 6th grade math. Thanks! ~Mrs. McArdle and Mr. Santy All students should be preparing for the May Math MCAS Dates of the exam will be posted. 5th grade Science: The students will be completing their unit of Physical Science that had a focus on the Water Cycle, Electricity, Simple Machines, Gravity, Friction, Motion, Sound and Light. Next up will be Earth Science with learning units on the relationship between Earth, the Sun and our Moon. Also students will be studying the properties of Rocks and Minerals. Additionally there will be some practice Science and Technology MCAS sessions to prepare for their MCAS test in mid-May. Think, speak and write like a scientist. Mr Brennan 5th grade Science Teacher
