  2. Definition • Feudalism- A political or military system between a feudal lord and his people. • Feudalsociety- divided into three classes: the tillers of the soil, the citizens of bourgeoisie, and the nobility.

Ten Facts • Feudalism was established in other parts of Europe before 1066 and the Norman Conquest of England. • Feudalism did not emerge until the Middle Ages. • Feudalism was the primary political system of the Middle Ages. • This system came about for two reasons; one of the reasons is for the King to hinder the people from rebelling and to control profits from the land.

  4. Ten Facts (continued) • The King ruled a certain amount of land by what they believed was “Divine Rights” (the right to rule granted by god and then passed on through heredity). • A way for the king to control all of the land, was to form a contract with his barons (his direct underlings). The barons were given Fiefs or Manors (large portion of land).
