  1. Scott Foresman Math On-line How to access and use the web-based instruction tools

  2. Disclaimers! • I don’t have all of the answers! • Computers don’t teach math! • NO textbook matches SCOS completely!!!

  3. Three ways this on-line feature can help: • Conveniences • Power • Fun

  4. Conveniences • Organizational features: • Tutorials, live chat • Everything is on-line! Every workbook, every piece of paper, every activity is available in the Teacher’s Edition. • From the simple – the student who left his book at home (or lost his workbook) • To the sublime – no more clutter or wondering if a teacher has everything he/she is supposed to have related to the adoption

  5. Organizational features cont: • Teachers can load multiple texts • Teachers can have multiple classes • Students can be assigned to different teachers (homeroom, EC, remediation, TAG, etc) • Assignments can be made to selected students within a class

  6. Power! • Once you have created groups or classes, you can begin to make assignments and assign tests. • Assignment preferences • Assigning tests • Teacher made vs system made • My assignments vs. system assignments based on test performance

  7. More power: • Differentiation and flexibility • Can truly follow students, vary the assignments, the activities, who is doing what with whom • It really is not terribly time consuming!

  8. Fun! • What students can do just by being enrolled • Access to the textbook • “Take it to the Net”

  9. Help…. • Jane Shrader shradej.pact@pitt.k12.nc.us • Connie Cheston • Pearson/Scott Foresman training: http://www.mypearsontraining.com/successnet/index.asp?WT.mc_id=SuccessNet_2008-05-20
