Smart Shopper: Price and Product Comparison Tool

This gadget aims to help users make informed purchase decisions by providing price and technical comparisons, favorite product management, and alerts when specific criteria are met. It also showcases the user's previous searches and top products based on all users of the gadget. The tool retrieves store information and locations where products can be purchased. The architecture plan includes using the zap.co.il search engine, XML for results, and Google App Engine for the database. SCOPE AND PURPOSE • The goal – deciding on the best product to purchase, as quickly and easily as possible, based on a user query (hopefully through zap.co.il) • Allowing price comparison alongside technical details of products in order to reach the best decision among different products, types and stores • Displaying the user’s previous searches, favorite products, and TOP-10 products based on all the users of the gadget • Retrieving a list of stores and locations in which a certain product or line of products can be purchased • Alerting the user when a certain criteria of a product is matched (price limit, availability, etc.)

  3. MAIN FEATURES • Price comparison • Technical comparison • Favorites tab • Alert mechanism • Statistics (Personal / General) * Background work will be completed until the first milestone. Presentation issues will only be completed for the second milestone.

  4. ARCHITECTURE PLAN • Relying on zap.co.il search engine • Retrieving results as XML, display with HTML and CSS • Still in thought - using AJAX Vs. new tab • Database hosted with Google App Engine
