  1. By: Bright Ekeigwe Intro. To Software Methodologies Dr. KhalilShujaee May 5, 2010 BANNERWEB Project

  2. Objective Design an easy-to-use software platform system to handle the alumni, freshmen and incoming student communications with Clark Atlanta University. An example of such software platform is Banner web. The Banner web is a very sophisticated software, but it requires a steep learning curve and heavy training by the university employees. In addition, it is very expensive. In order to overcome, to some extent, these problems, I have designed a software platform to ease the above concerns. This software platform was developed in which it took care of student direct communication with university authority via this software platform.

  3. Scenario Student, Alumni, University Officials should be able to go to the University web site and open the communication section, created by me, which related to student (alumni, freshmen, and incoming student) comment section and write/ read the feedback to/from university officials. Of course, every student, alumni, and those who need to have access to the site have to be registered and are required to have a password in order to be able to visit the site. Example, students can write about the course and the instructor, which he or she had taken in the past semester.

  4. Scenario (cont) That information should be available to those students who want to take that course in the future semesters. That piece of information may help students to be prepared for that course in advance. It is true that students may have access to the syllabi, but not the deep understanding about the teacher from multiple sources. Direct communication of university with alumni and vice versa become a difficult task in recent years. By creating such a site that can create a real time bridge between alumni and university, which can inform alumni about the university and university about its alumni.

  5. Functional Requirements • LOGIN: The user will be able to access the message board by logging in with his/her username and password. And this information will be stored in the software’s database. • READ/WRITE: The user will have access to reading comments of other users, and be able to write a comment of his/her own and post it to the message board.

  6. Functional Requirements (cont) • FEEDBACK: The user will access in receiving and reading comments in response to the user’s post. Giving the software a real-time bridge between multiple users

  7. Non-Functional Requirements • USABILITY: This software platform was created to be viewed as being straightforward and can be used by anybody, regardless of his or her programming skills. • COMPATABILITY: This software platform is compatible with any operating system such as:Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.

  8. Non-Functional Requirements (cont) • RESPONSE: This software platform is equipped with a real time bridge between all users. The response time is very short and very efficient.

  9. Target Environment The group that I am targeting are not computer scientists. My target are people of limited computer backgrounds. The environment that I am targeting is a university system. • Students (Incoming Freshmen, Current Students, Grad Students) • Alumni • Administration/Faculty

  10. Functional Model Message Board Database Login Successful login Write/Post User 1 Failure login Feedback Read Read Successful login User 2 Write/Post Read Failure login Read Feedback

  11. Conclusion This easy-to-use software platform is here to bridge the gap between current students of Clark Atlanta University, Alumni and the Administration. It is provided with a real time comment page, where users can read and write between each other on many different topics such as professors, classes, and school improvements.

  12. THANK YOU!
