  2. Social structure picture 1 • This image shows the social structure of Greece. It shows the interactions of people in the Greek town. If you look at the picture you will notice there are no women. The citizens are probably the majority of the people in the scene. The few kids in the picture are male, none of them are female. The metics, people who were not born in Greece, would probably not be allowed to work in the government buildings behind the scene.

  3. Family Life Picture 1 • This picture shows women doing what was expected of them during that time period. Women mostly did the chores around the house. They did not often leave the home even if they had servants. They ran the household and made sure everything got done.

  4. Family Life picture 2 • This carving is depicting an ancient Greek family. The women in the family were inferior to the men. There are only two kids to prevent a large separation of the family estate. The Greek families usually were rather small. Daughters were not preferred because of the dowries that had to be given for them to get married. They also did not carry on the family name. The family mostly revolved around the men.

  5. Social Structure Picture 2 • Greek, male citizens had to be in the military for part of their lives. The metics were usually not allowed to be part of the military. This picture shows what a soldier during that time would wear. It also shows you what kinds of weapons were most commonly used.
