  2. WHAT IS ROTA? Reach Out To Africa (ROTA) is a Rotary International committee that is created to enhance Rotary in Africa with an emphasis on service projects development and in partnerships with Rotary clubs and districts in other countries.

  3. The Troika Goal Setting: A Three Year Membership plan in Dar El Salam was set to reach 35000 member by 2016.

  4. ROTARY VISION FOR AFRICA BY 2020 By Trustee Sam F. Owori • An Africa with 2 Rotary zones. • An Africa with about 100,000 Rotarians. • An Africa comprising more than • 30 Districts. • An Africa with 1500 Rotary clubs.

Owori ( Cont.) • I see Nigeria with 7 Districts • I see Uganda with 3 Districts • I see Kenya with 2 Districts • I see Tanzania with 1 District = 21 Districts • I see Ghana as 1 District • I see South Africa back to 5 Districts • I see Egypt as 2 Districts. • I see the rest of Africa grouped in different ways into 10 or so Districts

  6. Patrick D Chisanga Chair ROTA 2014 – 15 MAIDEN STATEMENT 1. To attain a membership of 50,000 Rotarians in Africa by 30th June 2019. 2. Each Region to undertake 5 significant community service projects each year. 3. Africa to become a ZONE of its own by 2019. 4. Africa to be accorded a dedicated seat on the Board of RI by 2019. 5. Africa to host the RI Convention in 2019 By Communication: 1. A redesigned Newsletter to be headed up by PDG Geeta Manek, from Nairobi, Kenya. 2. A Facebook page to be Administered by PDG Patrick Coleman, from Luanshya, Zambia . 3. A Website to be managed by PDG Yasser Assam from Cairo, Egypt.

  7. How ? I have far more questions in my mind than solutions.  For example: If we are supposed to be a dual-gender association, why do we still have over 7,000 Rotary Clubs with male-only membership?  2. How many Club leaders make the effort to send a letter to another Club saying “a good member of our Club is moving to your city, whom you should invite to visit your Club?” 3. When Rotary International recently had a 25th anniversary of the admission of women members, wouldn’t it have been an excellent opportunity to conduct a world-wide effort to open the doors to well qualified women members, and urge women Rotarians to invite eligible female executives to become Rotarians? 4. How many spouses of Rotary senior leaders (Directors, Past Presidents, Trustees, Committee Chairmen) are actually members of a Rotary Club, since they are nearly all very significant and prominent community leaders?

How much training is actually being given to Governors and Club Presidents on specific and proven techniques for expanding membership – not just wringing their hands over the problem? 6. What can be done about Clubs which are so poorly conducted, or the membership is so low and inactive, that it is embarrassing to actually call it a “Rotary Club” or to invite prospective members? 7. What steps can be taken to terminate a dying and no-longer-viable Club and initiate a totally new Rotary Club in the same locality? 8. Even considering all of the clever campaigns, beautifully printed posters, and catchy slogans – is there any membership plan better than one or two members just asking a deserving person to become a Rotarian?

Promote humanitarian service through The Rotary Foundation We must monitor the success of the Future Vision program and encourage involvement in the new approaches to service. 3. Enhance our Public Image In order to make non-Rotarians more aware of our local and international service
