  3. Agility • Ability to change the position if your body and to control movement of your whole body.

  4. Balance • Ability to keep an upright posture while either standing still or moving.

  5. Power • Ability to perform with strength at a rapid pace (football players, swimmers, shot-putters, discus throwers and high jumpers)

  6. Reaction Time • The amount of time it takes to start a movement once your senses signal the need to move

  7. Coordination • Integration of eye, hand, and foot movements

  8. Speed • Ability to cover a distance in a short time

  9. Health Related Components of Fitness • Health Related Components of Fitness relate to how well the systems of the body work – your overall state of health • HRCF contribute to the prevention of disease and the promotion of health • Key in maintaining a healthy lifestyle • 5 HRCF

  10. Flexibility • The range of movement possible at various joints. • Probably the most frequently overlooked component of fitness

  11. Cardiovascular Fitness • Ability of the heart, blood, blood vessels and the respiratory system to supply oxygen and necessary fuel to the muscles during physical activity

  12. Muscular Strength & Muscular Endurance • Closely related components • Muscular Strength – ability of muscle groups to apply a maximal force against a resistance one time • Muscular Endurance – ability to repeat muscle movements for a long period of time

  13. Body Composition • Ratio of fat to muscle, bone and other tissues that compose your body • A certain amount is needed for good health • Extremely high or low amounts of body fat can cause health problems
