The MeasureOf A Strong Church 1) Functions Like A Body • The church is the body of Christ 1Co 12:27 • The body of Christ has many members with different functions Ro 12:4-5; 1Co 12:14-22 • The body must have members who fulfill their function! Ep 4:15-16 How we function as members of the body is a true measure of the strength of the church!

The MeasureOf A Strong Church 2) Loves Like A Family • The church is the household of God 1Ti 3:15; 5:1-2 • The family is to have concern and love for another 1Th 4:9-10; 2Th 1:3 • Sense of family requires getting to know one another, spending time together How we love one another as family is a true measure of the strength of the church!

The MeasureOf A Strong Church 3) Praises Like A Temple • Temples were built to glorify • The church is God’s temple today 1Co 3:16-17; 1Pe 2:5,9-10 • We offer spiritual sacrifices and praise He 13:15,16; cf. Mal 1:6-8 How we praise God with our sacrifices is a true measure of the strength of the church!

The MeasureOf A Strong Church 4) Submits Like A Kingdom • The church is the kingdom of Christ Co 1:13; Re 1:9 • A kingdom implies allegiance and obedience • We are to submit to Christ as our King Ac 2:36; Co 3:17 How we submit to the lordship of Christ is a true measure of the strength of the church!

The MeasureOf A Strong Church 5) Is Pure As A Bride • The church is the bride of Christ 2Co 11:1-2; Ep 5:25-29 • A bride implies purity and adornment • We must be cleansed and maintain purity Ac 22:16; 1Jn 1:9; Ep 5:3-5; 2Co 6:14-7:1 How we maintain our purity as a bride is a true measure of the strength of the church!

  7. The MeasureOf A Strong Church • Functions Like A Body • Loves Like A Family • Praises Like A Temple • Submits Like A Kingdom • Is Pure As A Bride We may have outward signs of a strong church, but be like the church at Sardis! Re 3:1-2
