The minimum number of credits required to graduate from high school is 170 in the state of California • All students must pass Geometry to meet the C requirement of the A-G • The State of California requires students to take a Health course. • All students must take a VPA to meet the minimum graduation requirements in the state of California Fact or Myth?

UC:CSU only recognize courses that are posted on the UC doorways website for each school • Schools are responsible for ensuring that their course lists are updated every year • Students will not receive credit for A-G courses taken at a particular school that are not posted on the UC doorways website for that particular school UC Doorways: A-G List

  8. Social Science – 2 years • English – 4 years • Mathematics – 3 years • Science – 2 years • Language other than English (LOTE) – 2 years • Visual & Performing Arts – 1 year (in sequence) • College Prep Elective – 1 year (G or A-F courses not considered introductory level) A-G Minimum Requirements

  9. Validation occurs when a student has successfully completed advanced work (earning a grade of C or better) in an area of sequential knowledge • Substitution occurs when a student completes an alternate course in the same subject area Validation and Substitution

  10. Validation occurs when a student has successfully completed advanced work (earning a grade of C or better) in an area of sequential knowledge • Validation applies to: • Mathematics • Language other than English (LOTE) • Chemistry (CSU) Validation

  11. Part B of a course will validate part A • Algebra 2B validates Algebra 1 and Algebra 2A • Statistics & Prob AB/AP Statistics AB will only validate Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 • Geo & Alg Trig B validates Alg 1, Geo AB, Alg2 • One semester of an advanced level course will validate all math (as long as both semesters of Geometry have been attempted – UC Only) • Advanced level courses: > Trig/Math Anal AB > Discrete Math AB > Math Analysis AB > AP Calculus ABC Sample Transcript ALGEBRA 1 C 09 GEOMETRY A C 10 GEOMETRY B D 10 ALGEBRA 2A D 11 TRIG/MATH A C 12 Student completed 3 year math requirement Validation - Mathematics
