Understanding the graduation requirements is essential for students in Lorenzo Dominguez's class. Freshmen must earn 0-5.5 credits, while seniors require a minimum of 18 credits. A total of 26 credits, including English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Languages, Health, Technology, Fine Arts, and electives, are mandatory for graduation. Additionally, students must pass STAAR tests, complete college applications, and take two college entrance exams (PSAT, SAT, ACT). Community service of 80 hours is also required. Community Service • Graduating Seniors are required to perform community service. The Class of 2014 required to complete 80 hours of community service. • Community Service Agencies • Human Society/Senior Centers/Community Centers/Church • Convalescent Homes/Child Crisis/Blood Drives/School Sponsored • Some community service projects include (but are not limited to): • Reading for older people in nursing homes • Cleaning a park • Getting involved with Habitat for Humanity • Helping out a local library
Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) • Requirements: • Complete all required courses • Successfully complete four advanced measures • Three years of a foreign language
Measures Four advanced Measures: four (4) advanced measures from each of these items: • The college Board’s Advanced Placement Examinations • Dual Credit Two Advanced Measures: • Original research /project • Each successful original research project will count as one advanced measure • College course credit One advanced measure: As per SBOE rule, no more then one advanced measure allowed from: • PSAT Commended Score May count as only one advanced measure regardless of the number of honors received by the student
