  3. WHAT IS PROACTIVENESS? Proactive means - TAKING INITIATIVE FIRST WHATEVER THE SITUATION MAY BE. - i.e. HAVING INITIATIVE AND RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN

  4. WHAT IS PROACTIVENESS? Responsibility => Response + Ability The ability to choose your response to a particular situation.

  5. TWO TYPES OF PEOPLE There are two types of people. (1) REACTIVE (2) PROACTIVE Reactive people’s attitude & performance are often affected by Physical environment: If the weather is good, they feel good and their performance will be good. Social environment: When people treat them well, they feel well. When people don’t, they become defensive or protective.

  6. TWO TYPES OF PEOPLE Proactive people’s attitude & performance will not be affected -by the environment or -the situation surrounding them. If the Proactive people’s intention is to produce good quality work, then they will proceed without caring whether the situation is conducive or not.

  8. USE R & I Many of us always wait for someone to initiate or care us . But those who are successful are the ones who takes the initiative to do whatever is necessary / to get the job done. i.e. they use their R & I (Resourcefulness and Initiative), to be successful.

  9. PROACTIVITY -- 30 DAY TEST Simply try the principle of proactivity and see what happens: • Make small commitments and keep them • Be a model, not a critic. • Be part of solution, not part of problem. • Don’t argue for other people’s weaknesses • When you make a mistake, admit it, correct it and learn from it – immediately. • Don’t get into a blaming, accusing mode. • Work on the things you have control over. • Work on you.
