The Birth of Jesus Probably tied for the best thing that ever happened!
Where we’ve been- • Week 1- figured out what we already knew about Jesus. Looked at Science and Math as a source of trusting Jesus vs. any other God. Saw 4 prophecies he fulfilled before speaking 1 word: Son of David, Out of Egypt, Nazerene, and Virgin Birth. • Week 2- Using the bible to prove itself as true. Evidence for what you believe. Challenging what you have been taught. Is it true? • Week 3- Mary and Joseph were willing to let God ruin their lives to serve him. We were challenged to search ourselves out and see if we would let him do the same for us?
The purpose- • 1 peter 3:15 But set apart Jesus as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that is in you. • Matthew 28:18-19 All authority on heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surly I am with you always even until the end of age. • We study about His life to know him, to know him more, to make him known.
The Birth • Luke 2:4-7 • So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with marry who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
