The CoIP Activity Group, led by Greg Meyer of Intel Corporation, is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of H.323 standards-based compatible products. Our mission focuses on detecting and correcting H.323 defects, clarifying ambiguities, and facilitating interoperability testing through various scenarios. We aim to bring together implementers to ensure robust compatibility in conferencing technologies, driving forward collaboration and innovation among stakeholders. Upcoming engineering events include cooperative testing in Portland and at ETSI, fostering advancements in interoperability.

Interop Events • Three IMTC CoIP/ETSI TIPHON events this year plus SuperOp!99 • iNOW! AG participating at same test events
What’s being tested • Richer Gatekeeper functionality • Inter-zone (LRQ) calls • Beginning Inter-domain (Annex G) calls • Multipoint • ‘Real world’ Gateway/Gatekeeper interactions • FastStart, Supplementary Services, Security • TIPHON & iNOW! phone-phone & PC-phone scenarios
How We’re Testing • Ad-Hoc/Debug Testing • PDU-level testing • High-level scenarios • Scored Testing • High-level scenarios • Short time intervals • No debugging • Scored (new scoring system) to measure combined results • Rules of Engagement vital to cooperation & success
An Ad-Hoc Example H.323 Endpoints IP Network IP GK GK Inter-Zone H.323 Endpoint MCU IP MCU IP H.321 Endpoint ATM Gateway
The Changing Environment • Large room (5500 ft2) • 100 engineers • 90 test stations • LAN: Hubs, Routers, Switches • ISDN BRI & PRI • POTS analog
ETSI TIPHON • Cooperative arrangements are successful! • TIPHON and CoIP work & direction are complementary • Two events hosted at ETSI facility, France
Next Steps • Engineering Interoperability Events • CoIP/iNOW!/TIPHON event in Portland, November 29 - December 5 • CoIP/iNOW!/TIPHON event at ETSI, February 21 - 25 • Begin Virtual Interoperability Events • ETSI TIPHON to host infrastructure • First event this week, Nov 10th
Next Steps (cont.) • Continue Alliance Development • TIA TR-41.3.4 • Form & Support Special Interest Groups (SIGs) • e.g. QOS • Others (your input here…) • Focus on amending the current, base test plans
