  2. What is BSF • Government/DCSF programme commenced in 2003 to refurbish or renew all Secondary Schools in England over a 15 year period • All Authority’s invited to submit Expression of interest • Prioritisation based upon • Educational attainments 5 A*- C • Deprivation – eligibility for FSM’s

  3. Worcestershire five waves of investment • Wyre Forest • Worcester/Malvern Hills • Redditch • Wychavon • Bromsgrove • Worcestershire first appeared in Wave 7 • Worcestershire brought forward in June 2008 into Wave 6A

  4. What are we proposing • 4 new build High Schools: Baxter, King Charles I, Stourport & Wolverley • 1 partial new build High School: Bewdley • 1 new build Special School • 1 KS3/4 Pupil Referral Unit • 3 co-located new build Primary Schools (LA funded)

What are we proposing • Not just a building programme • Education transformation • New ways of working • Provision for ALL Young People (2015) • Specialist SEN mainstream provision • Implementing the wider Children’s Agenda • Partner and Community dimension: lifelong learning, children’s centres, early years, youth provision, local service delivery, PCT & DC

What are the outcomes • Raising achievement and attainment • Provision for all: Narrowing the Gap • Reducing exclusion, improving attendance • Personalised learning/inclusion • 14-19 entitlement • Increasing participation • Facilities fit for 21st Century • Policy developments • i) SEN • ii) PRU’s • iii) Raising participation age • iv) Delivering 14-19 agenda

Key Stakeholders As well as schools: • Health • Police • County Council, including Libraries and Cultural Services, Youth Support, Early Years and Extended Services • Voluntary Sector • District Council including Housing, Cultural Services • Wyre Forest Matters • Sports Partnership • Arts Partnership

Partnership working Principles: • Shared vision - all supporting ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes. • Joined up planning, policies, funding. • Maximising value for money, affordability, flexibility. • Facilitating integration of relevant services. • Enabling easier access for families to key services. • Ensuring complementary rather than competing services.

  12. Outcomes • Raising young people’s achievement and wellbeing. • A voice for young people to articulate their ideas. • Improved community activities / facilities –on school sites for all. • Increasing inclusion of minority groups. • Facilitating community cohesion and regeneration.

BSF Arts Meeting • To ensure arts  and culture is  an integral  component in  BSF plans for transforming education and community involvement. • To  inform a strategic (learning village) approach to cultural plans across Wyre Forest schools and organisations. • To identify funding opportunities.

  14. Alignment with Culture Theme Group Potential to align our work with Cultural Theme Group via Arts workstream: • Stephen Wilson - county level arts • Stephen Belinfante EIA • Wyre Forest District Council.
