  2. TEETH : ITS TYPE

  3. MOLARS • Used for grinding food, molars are the teeth found in the back of our mouth and are usually the final teeth to erupt. Altogether, we have 12 molars, with six molars in each jaw, and three on each side. • Molars are definitely the largest teeth in your mouth! Unlike our front teeth, which are sharp and pointy for biting, your molars have rounded cusps for chewing. Each molar uses two to three roots to anchor itself to your jawbone and keep this strong tooth in place.

  4. PREMOLARS • The premolarteeth are transitional teeth located between the canineand molar teeth. In humans, there are two premolars per quadrant, making eight premolars total in the mouth. They have at least two cusps. Premolars can be considered as a 'transitional tooth' during chewing, or mastication. It has properties of both the anterior canines and posterior molars, and so food can be transferred from the canines to the premolars and finally to the molars for grinding, instead of directly from the canines to the molars.

  5. CANINES • Human canines are the longest and most stable of teeth in the dental arch. Only one tooth of this class is present in each quadrant. In traditional dental literature, canines are considered the cornerstones of the dental arch. They are the only teeth in the dentition with a single cusp. They are especially anchored as prehensile teeth in the group from whence they get their name, the Carnivora.

  6. INCISORS • Incisorsare the first four front teeth present in heterodontmammals. They are located in the premaxilla above and on the mandiblebelow. • In manyomnivorous mammals, such as the human, they are adapted for shearing sharply.

  7. ORAL CARE DOs • Brush your teeth twice in a day. • Use a mouthrinse. • Eat healthy food. • Go to dentist for regular check-up. DONTs • Don’t eat chocolates, candies and fast food. • Don’t have soft drinks.

  8. THANK YOU
