Tasks of the CGE Improve the process of preparation of national communications from NAI Parties through: • Identifying and assessing technical difficulties encountered by Parties in preparation of their national communications • Provision of technical advice and support by organizing training workshops • Examination of national communications • Report to the SBI on its activities including recommendations on ways to improve the process of preparation of NAI national communications

  4. Thematic Working Groups • Cross-cutting themes • Research and systematic observation • Technology transfer • Capacity building • Education, training and public awareness • Information and networking • Financial and technical support

The main objectives of the work of the thematic groups • Identify and assess technical problems and constraints affecting Parties in preparation of national communications • Identify and assess the difficulties encountered by Parties in the use of guidelines and methodologies • Examine specific sections of national communication in terms of methodological issues, technical problems and constrains in preparing and reporting • Provide technical advice and support through training workshops • Provide recommendations on how to improve the preparation of different chapters of national communications

  6. Main Functions of the coordinators • Assign specific tasks to each members of the thematic group • Communicate via the CGE listserv any information relevant to the thematic group • Prepare report of the work of the thematic group and present it to the CGE meeting

  7. Listserve • CGE used mailing list, listserv in the past • https://lists.unfccc.int/mailman/listinfo • The names and email addresses of the new members have been added to the listserv • Please send an email to cge@lists.unfccc.int, and everyone on the list will get the email.

Cge Quickplace • CGE quickplace was used to overcome the limitation of the CGE listserv in exchanging large documents. • It can be accessed at http://quickplace.unfccc.int/QuickPlace/cge/ • Log-in: secretariat will provide username and password by e-mail. Please note that they are both case sensitive.

  9. Cge Quickplace • Upon successful log-in, you will be directed to the welcome page. On this page you will see a brief description of the quickplace

  10. Cge Quickplace • Different folders can be created easily • To create a new page, click on “New” from the menu on top of the page. Click on what you want to create, then click “Next”. • At the bottom part, you will be able to attach relevant files, if any. When all files are attached, click on “Publish”. • In order for other members to be informed of changes that have been made, an email notification can automatically be sent to them or only specific members can be notified • To revise existing pages, go to the page and click on “New Revision”. An “edit page” will appear. • Once editing is done, click on “Publish” to enable others to see the edited page.
