  1. Project Associates M.Maheshwari. Savitha. T.L. Rashmi.K.B. Class: 9th ‘B’. Topic:Structure of a flower. School:Bapu Composite P.U.College.

  2. Acknowledgement We are very thankful to schools online for giving us computer to do project. We are great thankful to our

  3. Content Index • Introduction to the topic. • Information on Calyx. • Information on Corolla. • Information on Androecium. • Information on Gynoecium. • About Pollination. • About Fertilization. • Conclusion. • Bibliography.

  4. Project plan. Title:Structure of a flower. Summary:In higher plants like pea, bean sexual reproduction takes place by shoot system. It is called “FLOWER” .Reproductive organ of the plant.

  5. Objectives • It has a detailed study on structure of a flower. • It consists of details on Calyx, Corolla, Androecium, Gynoecium, Pollination and Fertilization.

  6. Introduction When we visit flower park or garden we see many beautiful flowers around us. Flowers are God’s gift. They are made up of many beautiful and attractive colours. They also have different parts within them. A Flower is a reproductive in the plant. It has stalk called Pedicel, the tip of which is swollen to form a receptacle. The parts of the plant are attached to the receptacle in whorls. There are four parts in a flower.

  7. Parts of a flower.

  8. Calyx The Calyx or outermost set of floral parts is made up of segments known as Sepals, which are usually green and whose function it is to protect the delicate flower parts within. CALYX.

  9. Corolla The segments of the Corolla are known as Petals. They are usually delicate in texture and some colour other than green, as the function of the Corolla is to attract to the flower insects that will transfer the pollen necessary for the formation ofseeds.

  10. Androecium It consists of male reproductive structures called Stamens. They produce pollen grains which contain male gamets.

  11. Gynoecium It consists of female reproductive parts called carpels or pistils. Each pistil consists of a basal swollen portion called Ovary. It contains Ovules (female gamets).

  12. Pollination • The transfer of pollen grains from the stamen to pistil is known as Pollination. • If the pollen grains fall on the stigma it is known as Self-pollination. • If the pollen grains fall on stigma of another flower it is known as Cross-pollination. • Cross-pollination takes by the certain agents like wind, water; birds & insects.

  13. Fertilization. The fusion of female and male gamets to form a single fertilized egg is known as fertilization.

  14. Conclusion By all the details on structure of flower we came to know what are the parts of flower and the characteristics of each part. So, we are very thankful to our principal Ms. Kamalamma and all the teachers of our school for giving this project to us and also very thankful to Intel Company.
