  3. Complete one application for the joint project. Use Guidance notes and instructions on application form. Please ensure latest version of Application Form and Guidelines. www.biraxrmi.org How do I apply?

  4. The programme is inclusive. Projects addressing a wide range of topics relevant to regenerative medicine are welcome. Basic research <-> translational. What is the scope of the Call?

  5. Grants of a value up to £400,000 over 3 years are available for research teams to implement joint research. Awards are intended to support the direct costs of conducting actual research. What is the available funding?

  6. Distinct new research programme. The scheme is not to simply supplement ongoing research. Nor to simply “top up” funding shortages. However, applications to build upon / expand a pilot collaboration will be considered. Outputs

  7. Applicants can propose the division of funding between the UK and Israel institutions. The division will be based on the needs of the project itself, and the nature of the contributions of the partnering groups. The division does not need to be split equally. BIRAX will transfer monies directly to both institutions through their respective research authorities. How will the money be divided?

  8. Proposals are welcome from PIs holding a position in academic institutions, research hospitals and research institutions. Relevant industry partners can be included as part of the team but cannot receive funding. Must applicants be from academic institutions?

  9. PIs must be employed by an official, recognised university in the UK or Israel (or university-affiliated institute) Who can be the PI?

  10. Emeritus Professors? If authorised by the institution Post – Doc / Phds? While it will be possible to include the funding for staff costs for Post – Doc and PhDs directly working on the project, technical Staff, postdoctoral fellows / researchers and students are not eligible as the PI. Who can be the PI?

  11. Human Resources (not PI salaries or additions to PI salaries) directly working on project. ie Post-Doc & PhDs. Travel costs (not expected to be the main costs). Conference Participation – to be listed in the application. Consumables. Equipment (justifiable). Licenses and Fees. What can be funded?

  12. Each principal investigator may submit only one application. Multiple applications from institutions are acceptable. Can I submit more than one application?

  13. Funding will not be available for a third partner but additional collaboration, eg with another country, can be mentioned. Can there be more than one partner on each side? Additional institutions can be subcontracted but the contract with BIRAX will be with one UK partner and one Israeli partner. Can we have a 3rd partner?

  14. General relevance to Regenerative Medicine Quality of the scientific content of the proposed research plan Innovation / originality of the proposed research. Expertise of the applicants in relation to the proposed research. Quality and nature of the collaboration, including the synergy between the partnering groups. Potential for longer-term sustainability of the collaboration beyond the period of the proposed research. Potential impact of the project, both basic and clinical. Assessment Criteria
