Objective PC 101 How to pay for College Pre-Advisement/Counseling Pre-Assessment The office of Recruitment & Retention will provide PC 101 informational workshops focusing on the admissions, enrollment and financial aid process to facilitate a positive and successful college readiness start for high school seniors. Pre-Admission Pre-Orientation

  5. Pre-Orientation • Objective: Informational Session • SLO: Decide if this the college for them • Implementation: Presentation • Measurement: Observation & number of student enrolled for the next workshop • Evaluation: Survey

  6. Pre-Admissions • Objective: Admissions 101 – My.maricopa.edu/Official Student Mail • SLO: students will receive a cub card with their MEID, Student ID #, and their official email information. • Implementation: computer lab • Measurement: Number of students admitted • Evaluation: Survey

  7. Pre-Assessment • Objective:Testing (Practice Test) – Developmental Courses • SLO: students will receive a certificate of completion that indicates they are ready to take the next step. • Implementation: Computer Lab • Measurement: Number students who take the placement test • Evaluation: Survey

  8. Pre-Advisement/Counseling • Objective: Advisement/Registration/career • SLO: check sheet access online • Implementation: Computer Lab (search) • Measurement: Number of student enrolled in classes • Evaluation: Survey

  9. How to pay for college • Objective: Payment Plan/ Scholarships/ Financial Aid • SLO: Informed on payment plan/list of scholarships/pin • Implementation: FA Outreach Specialist will be there to explain FA, answer specific questions and demo FAFSA • Measurement: Observation • Evaluation: Survey

Why PUHSD prospects can achieve enrollment success by: Follow the students’ ECAP 4x4 educational plan in order to monitor the completion of specific college To help high school seniors transition to higher education, enroll and complete their first semester successfully Reduce the number that are dropped for non-payment due to incomplete financial aid applications Increase the number of high school seniors recruited and retained their first semester of enrollment

  16. By whom Phoenix College Recruiters and a Financial Aid Outreach Specialist How Introduce PC 101 orientations during the 2012-13 school year visits to feeder schools. Through classroom presentations introduce prospects to Phoenix College By providing the five College Prep Workshops Strategies Develop a power point presentation similar to the Bear Trax presentation that can be used at bi-monthly orientation sessions and that: provides an introduction to Phoenix College, introducing the five orientation components to PC101 Includes a schedule of upcoming PC 101 orientations to be offered during subsequent visits Other information deemed necessary to promote PC 101 Provide prospects with a PC Folder to organize and locate information and forms regarding the admissions, enrollment and financial aid process; and include Checklists that explain the admissions, enrollment and financial aid process Checklists that explain each component of PC101 and indicate the number of PC101 orientation components that need to be completed or have been completed by the prospect. * *GOAL is for prospects to note what is still needed in order to plan accordingly and accept responsibility for attending next bi-weekly visit with Recruiter.

Two workshops per visit At the end of the Orientations students will be able to Explain the enrollment process/steps in correct order Use the information provided to start their admissions process early and be proactive Create Personal Goals (Educational and Career Action Plan) on the admissions process by following a timeline: Making the students accountable for their actions regarding their educational plans Promoting sustainability/accountability Using the check list that explains the process required, and steps needed to accomplish the process Design

  22. Students will have successful and seamless transition to a college success start by completing Getting Admitted, Setting up their Student Center/Official Student Email, and Testing. Avoid being underprepared with their enrollment process by not meeting deadlines. Awareness of the different departments and resources that are available on campus.
