Transition Measurement Period ExamplesMay 1, 2014 – October 31, 2014 • Example 1: Part-time teaching only faculty • Teaches 2 courses (6 contact hours) Spring 2014 = 16.5 hours per week for one week of transition period (May 1 – 7) • Teaches 1 course during the summer semester at 8 contact hours per week = 22 hours/week for 8 weeks (June – July) • Teaches 2 courses (6 contact hours) Fall 2014 = 16.5 hours per for 12 weeks (August - October) • Average hours worked from May 1 – October 31 = (16.5*1) + (22*8) + (16.5*12) = 390.5 / 21 weeks = 18.6 hours per week • Non-benefitted status – does not become health benefits eligible in stability period • Example 2: Part-time regular teaching only faculty • Teaches 3 courses (9 contact hours) Spring 2014 = 24.75 hours per week for one week of transition period (May 1 – 7) • Teaches 1 course during the summer semester at 8 contact hours per week = 22 hours/week for 8 weeks (June – July) • Teaches 3 courses (9 contact hours) Fall 2014 = 24.75 hours/week for 12 weeks (August – October) • Average hours worked from May 1 – October 31 = (24.75*1) + (22*8) + (24.75*12) = 497.75/ 21 weeks = 23.7 hours per week • Partial benefits status if in a regular status – does not become health benefits eligible in stability period
