Kansas Immunization Registry KSWebIZ Governor’s Child Health Advisory Committee Immunization Advisory Workgroup Topeka, KS February 19, 2010 Nichole Lambrecht KSWebIZ Project Manager Kansas Department of Health & Environment To protect the health and environment of all Kansans by promoting responsible choices.

Overall Goal of Project • KSWebIZ will maintain a high level of data quality and compliance with the NVAC approved functional standards for immunization registries and will contain a record with two or more immunizations for 95% of Kansas children less than six years of age by December 31, 2010. Provider Enrollment StatusJanuary 31, 2010 • 244 total provider sites • 139 private sites • 105 public sites • 52 enrolled as direct entry sites • 53 enrolled through interface • 907 direct entry users • 312 schools • 71 school districts • 181 users To protect the health and environment of all Kansans by promoting responsible choices.

  6. Current StatisticsJanuary 31, 2010 • Patients = 1,700,000 • Vaccinations = 13,200,000 • Historical vaccinations = 11,860,000 • Administered Vaccinations = 1,373,000 To protect the health and environment of all Kansans by promoting responsible choices.

New Progress • All LHDs are accessing KSWebIZ • KWIC interface was completed Jan 2010 • New source of data (Walgreens) • 22,600 new patients • 11,000 updates to existing patients • 34,500 new vaccinations • Annual Report due March 31 for 2009 stats • New IZ Data Quality Report • GIS work is on-going To protect the health and environment of all Kansans by promoting responsible choices.

Currently connected Vital Statistics (nightly batch load) Medicaid (nightly batch load) Kansas Women, Infant and & Child (KWIC) Netsmart Insight (real-time, two-way) = 4 providers KIPHS, PHClinic (real-time, two-way) = 49 providers Office Practicum (real-time, two-way) = 1 provider Electronic Exchange Status To protect the health and environment of all Kansans by promoting responsible choices.

Electronic Exchange Status cont. • Currently testing • EPIC • Bidirectional exchange capability verified. • Need a provider to install interface and test. • EClinical Works • Was on hold from H1N1 but rekindling development of two way interface capabilities. • GE Centricity • Have communicated ability for bidirectional exchange capability, but has not proven capability. Electronic Exchange Status cont. • Further discussions • NextGen • No current work or plans for bidirectional exchange capability, only batch one-way. • eMD • No bidirectional exchange development but just recently called to discuss new two way development. • Working on resource needs and timeline. • PDS (Practice Partners) • No bidirectional exchange development but just recently called to discuss new two way development. • Working on resource needs and timeline. On-going Data Quality • Accurate, complete, and timely data in the IIS promote provider confidence in data as well as willingness to participate. • Data quality assurance is conducted at the patient and vaccination level for the following: • De-duplication • Data completeness, timeliness, and accuracy To protect the health and environment of all Kansans by promoting responsible choices.

Data Use • Currently: • Direct Entry providers have access to run their own coverage rates and data quality reports. • Future: • Publish county and state level coverage and saturation reports on KIC. • Barriers: • Need to ensure complete and accurate data. • Need to gather stakeholder input on needed public reports.
