  2. Pg. 1: Economy/Background • Your economy paragraph should be finished from your time in pods. • 6-10 sentences describing the economic causes (and effects) of the Great Depression • Possible topics to discuss: • Stock Market Crash • Buying on credit • Depression cycle • Failure of banks

Economy Paragraph Outline Write a complete (6-10 sentence) paragraph following this format: Topic Sentence: Tells the overall BIG IDEA of this paragraph Introduce: Tell one of the causes, in your own words Evidence: 1 fact or statistic about this cause (cite) Explain: 1-2 sentences explaining this fact in your own words Introduce: Tell one of the causes, in your own words Evidence: 1 fact or statistic about this cause (cite) Explain: 1-2 sentences explaining this fact in your own words

  4. Historical Question • The Great Depression dramatically changed American politics, society, and culture. Which of these changes was the MOST important for Washingtonians? • This is your opinion, but you must back it up with facts from primary and secondary sources.

  5. Take a Position • Are you going to focus on SOCIAL, CULTURAL, or POLITICAL change? Choose one. • Look through all your notes on primary sources. Select THREE primary sources that will support your topic (social, cultural, or political). • Think about why the change (topic) you selected is the most important and how these sources show it. Remember, a primary source was created AT THAT TIME!

  12. Compare/Contrast • In a paragraph or two (6-10 sentences each), compare and contrast what you have learned about the Great Depression, FDR’s New Deal, and our current economic recession. • jobless rates • stock market • New Deal or American Reinvestment and Recovery Act • homeless rates

  13. Pg. 7 - Bibliography • On page seven, list (alphabetical order by author’s last name) your sources. You should list them all, even if you did not reference them in your flip book.
