Be “Test Wise” Tips to do better on tests
Be Prepared • There is no substitute for being prepared • Know what is on the test and STUDY IT! • More study time = Better test scores • Use the study guide and your notes • Ask questions
Relax • Before you start the test, take a deep breath, and chill out for a minute • Make sure you have pen or sharpened pencil and an eraser ready • Be positive!
Slow Down! • Put your name on the test • Read through all of the questions first so you know what you have to do • Read ALL directions carefully • Answer the ones you are sure of first, THEN go back to the ones you need to think about
IDK – Now what?? • If you are not sure of the answer – Make your best GUESS! • A partially correct answer is worth more points than no answer • Eliminate possible answers you KNOW are incorrect
Before you hand it in • Go over the test to make sure you have answered all of the questions • Check your answers, but… • DO NOT change your answer unless you are absolutely, positively sure you have answered it incorrectly
Summarizing • Summarize the passage you have, IN YOUR OWN WORDS. • Let’s compare…
With your given scenario: • List possible observations you might make. • Write down the type of observation. • Make a list of possible variables • What kind of variable is it?
Use your given scenario: • Write at least one hypothesis, using the correct format. • Write at least one research question, using the correct format.
