  3. What is CAN Nepal doing? What are its plans?

  4. Organization Expansion Initiatives • As currently there are 34 districts CAN and 2 international CAN (Japan and USA). In the 2 year of tenure the Excom had a vision of founding another 30 district CAN and also in the other countries. Initiatives has been taken for CAN – Australia and CAN Canada in the international sector. • Membership Drive • The membership base the organization holds projects the strength of the Organization. Citing that in mind the 8thExcom has moved forward a membership drive for strengthening its membership base. With in the 2 year of tenure the Excom expect to have min of 3 times growth in the membership base. • For the same the membership drive have been started from the following area • Fresh IT Graduates. • Current IT Students • IT Companies and IT enables service companies. • Hardware and the Software Vendors • IT Colleges

Development of Forums • Hardware vendor Forum • Students Forum • Service Providers Forum • Software and BPO Forums • IT Business Opportunities Forum • Legal Forum • Education Forum • Each of these forums will work with the respective stake holders and the member of the respective forum and come with the report on the problems and the solution of the cited problem in the respective area of IT Industry in Nepal. • With reference to the made report CAN will start a lobbying in the required area where identified and provide assistance to the government for improving the IT Industry in Nepal.

IT Shows and Event • CAN InfoTech 2009 • As a Part of the regular Event we at Excom are taking forward the CAN InfoTech 2009 this time from 14th to 19th JAN 2009 at Exhibition Hall BhrikutiMandap , Kathmandu. • IT Conference 2009 • Along with the InfoTech the conference also is been organized where the national and the international experts in ICT Industry will present there paper. • CAN Softech 2009 • Starting from the year 2007 CAN has started a event focusing software and BPO Industry show. This time also we plan to do the event in May 2009; the date of the same will be announced shortly.

  7. Present Excom Aims at • 1. Driving CAN to the path of being a one and the only most valued Umbrella Organization for the ICT Industry of Nepal. • 2. Becoming a consultant, to the Government of Nepal, for the Development of the ICT Industry in Nepal.

  9. We will progressively see the quality of Internet improve and the cost reduce.

  12. The cost of the Internet in Nepal will never be as low as the US ……(for the same bandwidth/quality. 
