  5. Attention • Some people still have a test, so there is still no talking allowed. However, I am so concerned right now with your grades. I just looked at both sections and there are a total of five students who have above a D in both classes. If I were an outsider  I would think that this teacher was absolutely the worst teacher in the world and that she must not know anything about students or the subject she teaches. I would think it was all the teachers fault! How could so many students be doing so badly otherwise? I am seriously sick to my stomach right now. What more can I do? I just don’t know what to do.

  6. MY WORDS • Watch the video: • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDDWvj_q-o8 • 1 paragraph about what it makes you think/feel. • What would the words above you say?

  7. My response 2nd Hour • The video made me feel so sad. Unfortunately, I have had some of those life changing events happen to me and I have seen them happen to those I love. We are not promised a happy life. We are not promised a life beyond today or even beyond these moments. So I choose to recognize this daily. I choose to participate in my life and even beyond that. I choose to invest in students who refuse to invest in themselves. I choose to have moments of grief when I realize that I care more about them than they care about themselves. • My words would say: Choosing courage and faith everyday in every way because without both, I cannot go on!

  8. My Response 3rd • This video makes me think that everyone has their “baggage.” You have no idea what others may be going through and yet, we as citizens of society place expectations on others without even thinking about it. We expect our friends to support us, but they may need support. We expect others to greet us, but they may feel dejected. We require that our pain be acknowledged, but others may not know our pain. They may be in the happiest place they have ever been in. In the end, my experience is not the experience of others, and it’s important to recognize that. • My words would say: “Grateful for hope, blessed beyond belief, saddened by reality.”

  16. My Story • I woke up this morning with a premonition. I recalled that I would see my sixth hour today and that because of the testing schedule, we would spend three hours of agony together. While some might have been horrified, I wistfully hoped that today would be the day that they acted maturely. Of course my aimless hopes do not always come true. In the end, I was pleasantly rewarded as they were very spirited, but also extremely intellectual and therefore made the last half of the day ultimately enjoyable.
