Communication • Good practice guide for eScience software development and communication • Glossary(ies?) of terms aimed at researchers • Get Research Councils to disseminate more • eResearch pamphlet / Research in a connected world • Q&A area – like Yahoo Answers? • Raise issues about training in universities (e.g. Software sustainability) • Record and publish examples of good and bad communication practice

  4. Tooling • Record and publish good and bad experiences of using different tools (e.g. Google docs: security and simultaneous editing) • OSS-Watch and OMII-UK to work together to produce and disseminate “combination licensing” guide • SJH to look at Zimbra • Should we band together to create CRM customisations for eScience organisations

  5. Application / User Support • Provide examples of cost of support for different scenarios (e.g. DW Oxford 24/7) • Suggestions for costing and funding models • Register of experts for specialised software, plus ways of incentivising contribution of effort • Work with DCC to provide guidance during project setup on data access and organisation technologies. • Investigate the applicability of international standards (ISO9xxx) for support services in institutions.

  6. Firewalls and Security • Split OMII-UK security document into overview and 1 or more technical docs

  7. Portal Applications • DM/SC discuss scope for GridSAM JSDL-PS implementation

  8. Meeting Comments • A few people felt that it was not technical enough • Participants made the level to the level that they wanted • 80% would come back again, reasons they wouldn’t: travel, other domain specific similar workshops • 99% met someone they hadn’t met before who provided useful collaboration • Wasn’t clear beforehand what the level would be
