  10. 5/13 Do Now pg. 74 “Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility” Sigmund Freud (1856- 1939) neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis. Do you agree or disagree and why? What is psychoanalysis? Theory developed by Freud and study continues with other researchers. The psychoanalytic framework stresses the importance of understanding: • that each individual is unique, • that there are factors outside of a person's awareness (unconscious thoughts, feelings and experiences) which influence his or her thoughts and actions, • that the past shapes the present • that human beings are always engaged in the process of development throughout their lives. http://www.apsa.org/About_Psychoanalysis.aspx
