How its injured • Is common in gamekeepers, skiers, and other athletes • Occurs from bracing a fall on the thumb, or chronic hyper abduction
Treatment • simply immobilizing the joint in a thumb spica splint. • In a complete tear it requires surgery
Recovery • Put in a splint for 3-4 weeks after surgery. • Eventually motion to thumb returns • Return to sports 3-4 months after
