  3. History • Did you know in a .d 70 a volcano erupted near the city of Pompeii Italy it killed everybody then the ash covered everything for hundreds of years it was buried then people discovered the ancient city today scientists study the remains in labs. • Do you know a volcano called Stromboli has been erupting for hundreds of years. • People thought that Mount Vesvius was dead so they built towns but in a .d. 79 it erupted. • On Sunday May 18,1980 Mount St. Helens let the world know it was still active.

  4. Formation • A volcano in Mexico started as a pit. • Scientists think that lava starts to form 60 miles below the surface.

  5. Volcano types • Shield volcanoes form on the bottom of the oceans. • They spew out layer upon layer of lava from cracks in the earths surface. • Cinder cone volcanoes blow out burning cinders ,ash ,and steam. • This material shoots out from a single tube. • Composite volcanoes are formed by hot broken rock ,ash ,and lava .These volcanoes are taller and more than shield volcanoes.

  6. Information • In some volcanoes the lava is very thick. • Lava and ash fly high into the air. • Stromboli an island volcano. • The lava bubbles and glows during an eruption. • Red hot lumps of lava fly high into the air. • Millions of years ago volcanoes helped form the surface of the world. • Sometimes the crust cracks. • Every few minutes a bubble of gas explodes. • One of Hawaii’s volcanoes is called Kiluea. • During an eruption long ago the top of a volcano fell in. • Not all volcanoes erupt as gently as those in Hawaii. • Lava can build up around volcanoes. • There’s melted rock called magma. • Volcanoes erupt in different ways . • A Volcanologists study volcanoes they even walk in volcanoes. • A volcano shoots out hot rocks gases and ash.

  7. Ending Now that was answers to questions. You know the three types. Mostly all the history. A small part of formation. Three types of volcanoes too. And a lot of information.
