  3. Overview • Simulink Bluetooth Model • Features & Capabilities • Planned Extensions • Comments Invited R. Durrant/Intel

  4. The Simulink Bluetooth Model • Developed by The Mathworks with the in conjunction with Agere. • Models a simplex HV3 PHY layer with a simulated 802.11b jammer. • Download Information: • http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/ • Click on ‘file exchange’, then ‘Signal Processing, Comms, and DSP’, then ‘Bluetooth Voice • A description of the Bluetooth model is now on-line with a link to the model: http://www.mathworks.com/company/digest/nov01/bluetooth.shtml R. Durrant/Intel

  5. Simulink Bluetooth Model R. Durrant/Intel

  6. Why Another Simulator? • Many companies involved in communications system design already use MatLab and Simulink. • Smaller learning curve • Lower cost • State Flow can be used to expand model to include MAC protocols. • Provides a path to hardware implementation. • Developed and Supported by The Mathworks. R. Durrant/Intel

  7. Model Features • PHY Layer • Frame generation, access code, header, HEC, • HV3 mode including CVSD encoder/decoder • GFSK modulation, demodulation • Frequency Hopping • 100 samples/bit, full 100 MHz sim BW • On/off, random or by Bluetooth spec. • 802.11b like interferer • AWGN channel • Measurement of BER, RBER, FER R. Durrant/Intel

  8. Model Features • Transmitter R. Durrant/Intel

  9. Model Features • Receiver R. Durrant/Intel

  10. Model Features • Demonstration R. Durrant/Intel

  11. Future Enhancements • ACL mode • HV1, HV5 • Throughput measurement • Two way link • MAC Layer Protocols – State Flow • ARQ • Power Control? • AFH and required LMP commands • SCORT • Improved 802.11b interferer • Complete 802.11b simulation R. Durrant/Intel

  12. Future Enhancements • Download it and try it out • Comments, suggestions and improvements welcome R. Durrant/Intel
