Introduction and Overview

Contact your District Special Education Coordinator (or designee) via e-mail to request a login name and password. Step One:

Go to para.unl.edu (NOTE: there is no “www”). Or search for “Project Para” with Google and it will be the first choice. Log in using the username and password sent to you by your Sped Coordinator. NOTE: Use the “Training for Paraeducators” Not the “Training for Teachers” Link. CLICK HERE Step Two:

After you log on to the program you will see this screen. Click the “Paraeducator Self Study Unit Index” link. CLICK HERE Step Three

From this page you will see a listing of the 14 units and three Content Skills Assessments To select a unit or assessment, click on the green hypertext link to that unit or assessment. Unit Index:

Each unit contains: • Pretest • Multiple Lessons • Activities • Posttest • Evaluation • Lessons and activities are not intended to be completed in one setting. • Lessons and activities are intended to be implemented and practiced before moving on to the next lesson. Notes on Units:

You may take the pretest for each unit as many times as you like. • You can return to the lessons and activities as often as you like. • The posttest is only intended to be taken once. • If you need to retake the test for some reason, your Sped Coordinator can reset the score for you. Your district may require specific units as part of your training. If this is the situation, your Sped Coordinator will inform you which units are required. Notes on Units:

Each unit contains an introduction explaining the unit and the learning objectives. • You can continue to the pretest by clicking the link at the bottom of the page. Unit Introduction:

Each unit contains a multiple choice pretest. • The pretest does not affect your final score. • When you press “Submit” your score will be shown. • You can retake the pretest as many times as you would like. Pretest:

There are multiple text lessons in each unit. • Read each lesson and discuss it with your teacher and colleagues. • You can return to any lesson at any time- even after you take the posttest. Lessons:

Each unit has multiple narrative-response activities. • Take your time implementing and practicing the activity before you write your response. • Responses can be edited and resubmitted at any time. Activities:

Activities are not intended to be completed in one setting. • Take the time to research and discuss your answers to the activity with your teachers and colleagues. • Practice implementation of the skills taught in the activity • You can change your answers in the response section at any time- even after you take the posttest. Each unit contains a multiple choice posttest. • Posttests are not intended to be taken more than once. • Posttests contain questions not in the lesson readings. • But… Here’s a hint… Posttest

Print the posttest and study the questions before answering the questions and submitting. • If you need to retake a posttest, your Sped Coordinator can reset your scores. Posttest Hint:
