  4. Raising Funds:Why do donors give? • Express gratitude • Complete the circle of healing • Make something happen that otherwise would not be able to happen • Have an impact on the care patients receive • Make a difference in the lives of others

  5. Spending FundsHonoring donor intent • All restricted funds are established with a designated purpose: • Capital expenditures or expenses • Budgeted or unbudgeted • General support or specific expense • Funds MUST be used in accordance with the purpose for which they were established.

  6. ACF’s Responsibilities • Accept charitable donations, provide tax receipts and thank donors. • Ensure that gift was used according to the donor’s intent. • Share gift impact stories with our donors. • Provide reports to Fund Administrators (donations received, funds used, cash balances)

  7. Role of the Fund Administrator Fund administrator = Advocate Associate assigned responsibility for a restricted fund • Monitors the restricted fund balances and transfers (avoiding negative cash balances) • Approves transfers from the restricted fund that are consistent with the donor’s intent. • Helps ACF staff tell the story of fund’s use to donors (current and future).
