Sled Dog Breeds • Greenland dogs are one of the most popular breeds • Alaskan Malamute were originally bred for sledding • Labrador Husky was a strong, fast sled dog with high stamina • Siberian Huskies were sled dogs but are now mainly family pets • Tamaskan dogs were bred to look like wolves
The History • They have been used for hunting for hundreds of years • Have been used as far back as the 10th Century • The Royal Canadian Mounted Police use sled dogs • The leader dog is the most important • The lead dog will often become part of the family household
