  8. A Typical Day: 6th Grade *Unit Studies One semester of the school year students will also participate in a Specials rotation of six weeks each of Art, world language (Spanish or Chinese), and 21st Century Skills.

Important Reminders • Parent Portal access: immediate access to student progress • Cafeteria/Playground/ Recess • Three separate cafeterias • Substantial playground upgrades last year • New playground equipment approved • Attendance policy: • arrival after 8:30 or checking out before 1:50 constitutes ½ day absence • Tardies count! Please arrive early enough for your child to be in his/her desk before 7:50 a.m.

Important Reminders • Student Drop off / Pick Up • Single car line for safety • Yes, traffic is an issue. • Additional Jenks Campus Police support this year • Handbook Changes • Parties: Winter is the only party • No birthday treats • Cell phone/ technology policy • Agendas needed daily • Teacher/parent communication, hall pass

Important Reminder • Dress Code reminders • Tank tops, mesh shirts, short-shorts (less than fingertip length) are not permitted. • Jeans should not have rips, tears, holes, or be ‘sagging.’ • Clothing must not have offensive words, symbols, inappropriate references. • Hats, caps, hoods, or sunglasses are not permitted. • Extreme hair colors/styles are not permitted. • Pierced ears are the only type body piercing allowed. • Please review handbook page 8 for details
