  3. Approaches to date • Draft National Biodiversity Strategy & Action Plan Gaps and Challenges: * Inadequate information on the biology, distribution and the ecological and economical impacts of introduced alien species

  4. Approaches to date(cont.) * Greater control needed over the importation of agricultural plants & animals to prevent the introduction of harmful alien invasive species • Advisory Committee Representatives from the Ministries of Land & Environment and of Agriculture, University of the West Indies, National Working Group on Alien Invasive Species, Institute of Jamaica and the IABIN Focal Point

  5. Some Proposed Project Activities • Questionnairre to assess the current status of invasive species information • There is existing data and information in Jamaica. However, it uncertain who are all the generators, holders and users of the data and information. • Workshop • Familiarize collaborators with the I3N - JA project and initiate the collection of data and information.
