This report summarizes the ongoing work on Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs), focusing on gain measurements across various wavelengths using a good channel of APD configured for red, yellow, green, and blue LEDs. A comparison of direct measurements against manufacturer data revealed differences in curve sharpness potentially due to high noise levels. The second APD has undergone tests confirming conformity to specifications, with ongoing development towards improved shielding and amplifier connectivity. Future tests will involve connecting a pre-amplifier and assessing gain versus temperature.

Progress report on APD • The Gain measurements were made using a good channel of APD for the red, yellow, green and blue light, using different LEDs as source of light. • Also, a gain curve from direct measurements was compared to the curve provided by the manufacturer. • Work on the better APD shielding and connectivity to amplifiers is in progress
Progress report on APD • The reason why the measured curve is not as sharp as provided by the manufacturer could be due to the relatively high noise levels.
Progress report on APD • For the second APD: • Tests of random 10 channels show conformity to the specifications of the “good” channels of the 1st matrix. • Work in progress to create a “personal” shielding for this APD so that it can be used outside of black box.
Progress report on APD Summary • 2nd APD connection circuit is realized and is working • Measurements of Gain of APD were performed for different wavelengths • 10 elements of 2nd APD matrix were tested • No change in APD temperature was detected during tests • Work is ongoing on the second APD connectivity to the amplifier • Next, pre-amp will be connected and all channels tested together • Also, some progress is done towards measuring the Gain vs. temperature • Work on the compact shielding of APD is in progress.
