  2. Background Butterflies was founded in the eighties by Rita Panicke A social worker in Bombay She first encountered street children on the train She and her husband moved to New Delhi UNICEF commissioned help her for a study of street children in 1987

  3. Contd… After that Panicker formally launched Butterflies Organization’s drop-in shelters near the railroad station or in Old Delhi Where street children are more likely to hang out Butterflies provides informal education and healthcare but not free of cost.

  4. Objectives of Butterflies Dedicated to empowering street and working children Provide appropriate skills and knowledge Butterflies ensures that every child gets equal opportunity in life worked towards bridging the gap between deprived children and their privileged counterparts

Butterflies’ ideology Areas where Butterflies focuses include education, healthcare and shelter Equip children with education and skills as well as provide them with necessary support for their carrier What separates Butterflies from the other NGO’s is the involvement and participation of children for whom the projects are designed
