  1. Revising the ELA Scoring Guides for 2013-2014 Rogers Public Schools May 13, 2013

  2. We listened, and this is what we heard!

  3. There are too many standards to score each grading period.

  4. There are too many pages to manipulate.

  5. Straddling two unit scoring guides per report card period is challenging.

  6. Some standards are too difficult to score.

  7. So this is what we did…

  8. We distributed the standards more appropriately to streamline the scoring process.

  9. We reduced the number of papers.

  10. Number of Pages

  11. We created quarterly scoring guides to match the reporting periods.

  12. Quarterly Scoring Guides 2nd Quarter Scoring Guide 1st Quarter Scoring Guide 3rd Quarter Scoring Guide 4th Quarter Scoring Guide

  13. The unit pacing guides would look the same for units 1, 3, 4 and 6.

  14. Units 2 and 5 would have standards scored on two different scoring guides.

  16. Some Pages Cover One Quarter

  17. Some Pages Cover Two Quarters

  18. Some Pages Cover the Entire Year

  19. Organized by Domain (not Quarter) Total of five scoring guides per grade level Reading (includes literature and informational text) Reading Foundational Skills Writing Speaking and Listening Language

  21. Other Changes

  22. All three writing standards are included each quarter, giving you the flexibility to score more than just the unit focus standards.

  23. Reading standards 10are no longer scored in isolation. (They encompass reading standards 1-9.) R.10 Read and comprehend complex literary and informational texts independently and proficiently.
