  1. “The Most Dangerous Game” Vocabulary Skill - Prefixes (di-,dis-, im-, in-, pre-, re-, sur-) A prefix is a word part that comes before a base word or word root and changesits meaning. Knowing how to identify and decode words with prefixes can help readers understand and figure out the meaning of new words.

  2. Disarming Receding Imprudent Invariably Surmounted What is the meaning of the base/root words in each example? What do you think is the meaning of the prefix in each example?

  3. Each word contains a prefix (underlined part) and either a base word or word root. Base words can stand alone, but word roots cannot stand alone. Place a * next to each word with a base word.

  4. Create a list of as many words as you can that use the prefixes you learned about today.
