Mission Statement The Leuzinger Health Occupations and Careers SLC (LHOC) will provide valuable opportunities for individualized attention, as well as academic support for all students as they participate in a curriculum that is designed to explore health occupations and careers. The goal is to ensure that all students graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a successful transition to college or a career while pursuing continued learning in various health-related fields.

SLC Goals • Students will progress through a rigorous curriculum that increases the knowledge base in health related occupation and careers. • All students will participate in an advisement program that will include weekly grade checks and parent contracts. • All students will participate in the LHOC signature course of study that includes… • Exploration of career and professional opportunities in health related field. • Fieldtrips and community access in health-related fields. • Participation in SCROC related classes and internships within the health community. • All students will enroll in classes that meet “A-G” requirements.

Special Requirements • All students and parents will sign a contract that acknowledges their understanding of the requirements of LHOC and their expectation that all students will succeed by following the guidelines presented. • Workplace attire as appropriate (e.g. LHOC lab-coat, scrubs, etc.) • Social Security Number is needed for future license positions. • Attend ALL Signature pieces. • Saturday Activities-Student and Parent Celebrations, in addition to tutorials.

Leuzinger’sSLC Intervention Plan • All SLCs offer the following interventions to assist their students to learn the content and be successful in meeting the graduation requirements. • Weekly grade checks for ALL students. • Mandatory Tutorials, including the possibility of enrollment in Study Lab classes. • Parent Conference with an action plan of interventions. • Possible Saturday Tutorials with food as an incentive. • Celebrations for improvements.

  8. Future Opportunities The following professions represent a continuous flow of opportunities for students as they enter health careers at various levels such as: • Entry-level jobs • Skilled positions • Professional careers

Entry-Level Jobs • CVHSD-Medical ROP classes provide entry level job skills associated with the specific courses. • Hospital Health Service • Medical Assistance, Administration • Medical Assistance, Clinical • Medical Clerical Careers • Nursing Assistant • Pharmacy Technicians • Bridge Program Grants with ECCC.

  10. 18 units of study: Certified Nursing Assistance Medical Billing Mammography Home Health Aide Phlebotomy Emergency Medical Technician Health Unit Coordinator 17.5 units of study: Medical Secretary 14.5 units of study: Medical Transcriptionist 2 year programs Dental Assistant Dental Hygiene Mental Assistant Patient Care Areas Nursing Programs-AA degree to RN AND MANY MORE Skilled Positions A variety of skills jobs are available through certificate programs that vary in length of instructions/courses of study.
