Economic Challenges Affecting Transfer at the CCC • Over $800 million in cuts since 2008-09 • A reduction of over 60,000 course sections in three years • In 2010-11, 140,000 students could only get one class • Fewer counseling resources to guide • Results: • Students who can’t get their classes can’t transfer on time • Students who can’t transfer on time stay longer and take more units

Economic Challenges Affecting Transfer at the CSU • State support for the CSU has been cut by almost $1 billion or 35% over the past 18 months. • Student tuition increases cover over only ½ of cuts. • State resources are now equal to the 1996-1997 fiscal year; CSU enrolls 90,000 more students. • The CSU will continue to focus on authentic access for students • Enrollment management approaches and strategies vary by campus • Resources and enrollment capacity highly dependent on outcomes of November election.
