7. 3. Holy Symbolic Seal (Heavenly hand sign) • The Third Treasure is the Holy Symbolic Seal. It symbolizes the agreement we made with God. It is formed by holding our 2 hands together in this way. I shall now show you how to hold the Holy Symbolic Seal correctly.

8. Raise up your right hand. Place the xxx of the right hand on the last line of the xxx finger and place the xxx of the left hand on the last line of the xxx finger. Then place the left hand on top and over the right hand. This is the correct way to hold the Holy Symbolic Seal. There are certain meanings holding the Holy Symbolic Seal in this way. (因討論時無點佛燈,故實際手指名稱以XXX取代, 各指英文如下) 拇指:thumb 食指:first finger/forefinger 中指: middle finger/long finger 無名指: third finger/ring finger 小指: little finger

9. When you place the left hand on top and over the right hand, it symbolizes good over bad. This is because most of the bad things are done with the right hand. We must use the left hand to cover the right hand to prevent us from doing bad things. (考量左右撇子之疑慮,此段僅供參考) • The placing of the 2 thumbs on these 2 lines also has certain meaning. If you look at your right hand, you can find there are 12 time zones or earthly branches of the universe on it. The 12 time zones start from this line - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 - and end at this line.

10. This first line is Alpha, which indicates the beginning of time. This last line is Omega, which indicates the ending of time. When you place one thumb at Alpha - the beginning of time, and another at Omega - the ending of time, and enclose it with your two hands, you are holding the entire universe within the Holy Symbolic Seal. We become one with the universe.

11. The Bible says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” By connecting the first and the last, the beginning and the end, birth and death, there is already no birth and no death. Thus we return to our original place of being, that is Heaven.

12. The Holy Symbolic Seal also has another meaning. In Chinese, the 12 earthly branches (地支)are tzu, chou, yin, mao, chen, ssu, wu, wei, shen, yu, hsu, hai. This first line is tzu and this last line is hai. When you place these 2 Chinese characters together, they formed a Chinese word - CHILD. • This is to remind us that we are all children of our Heavenly Mother(Almighty God). Our mother on earth gave birth to our body. Our Heavenly Mother in Heaven gave birth to our soul.

13. At the Gate of Heaven, you need to show the Three Treasures to gain entry(so it’s very important to always keep the Three Treasures in mind) and see our Heavenly Mother. Use the Third Treasure to pray and pay respect to our Heavenly Mother.

14. It is also a gesture where one hand holds the other which represents the tender loving care that you feel when you hold an infant in your arms. This will remind us of the child within us. • A child-like state that sees wonder in everything that does not judge or criticize and contains only pure and innocent mind. The Hand Seal reminds us how precious this inner child is, and how we can rediscover our original nature through Tao cultivation.

15. Revision of the Three Treasures • Let us revise the Three Treasures. The First Treasure is the Heavenly Portal. The Second Treasure is the Divine Mantra. The Third Treasure is the Holy Symbolic Seal.   Please remember that these Three Treasures are Heavenly Secret. Therefore, they are not to be revealed to anyone – your friends, relatives and even your close ones such as your husband, wife, children and parents. But if you want them to receive the Heavenly Tao, you can bring them to the prayer hall(holy temple) and let our enlightened master transmits the Heavenly Tao to them.

16. Last but not least, I would like to talk about the special contribution of NT$200. This special contribution is made only once in your lifetime during your first visit to the prayer hall to receive the Heavenly Tao. Subsequently when you come to the prayer hall, you do not have to make any contributions. This special contribution is used to print good moral books and do good deeds on your behalf to enable you to gain good merits. • Finally, I would like to congratulate you again for receiving the Heavenly Tao and wish you success in your cultivation of the Heavenly Tao.
