  3. Mississippi The Mississippi is a major river covering almost half of the USA. The Mississippi river used to flood every year in spring.

  4. About The river • The river used to flood and the channel moved around the flood plane. This made navigation difficult so people attempted to manage the river strategies involved dykes, levees, dams and river straytening. This solved the flooding problem as the river flowed faster over a shorter distance.

  5. Glossary . Navigation = where you use something to get somewhere eg if you use a tom-tom in a car It tells you were to go and that’s called Navigation. . Stray = when you go off course
