  1. SCRIBBLE PAD EQ: How do you solve every equation in the whole world? A: Inverse operations What does it mean to isolate the variable?

  2. Single-step to Multi-step • What is the inverse of add? • Subtract? • Multiply? • Divide? 4x = 12 x + 4 = 10 = 10 x - 2 = 12

  3. Multi-step • Undo addition and subtraction before multiplication and division. 3x + 3 = 12 + 4 = 12
