  1. Simulations and feasibility studies of low mass vector mesons identification for the CBM project by Krakow Group Zbigniew Majka M.Smoluchowski Institute of Physics, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland ufmajka@cyf-kr.edu.pl

  2. Group activity: * Nov. 15, 2002 - CBM Experiment R&D Coordination Meeting - presentation of Krakow group * Nov. 28, 2002 - Kraków - Letter of intention * Jan. 2, 2003 - CBM Collaboration Board Meeting - decision - Kraków will participate in: Simulation, Si – PIXEL, Hadron ID working groups * March 25. 2003– Meetingof the CBM Simulation working group (GSI), participated: J.Cibor, R. Karabowicz, P. Staszel - „Milestones: First results should be at the 2nd Int. Workshop ...at GSI on Oct. 14, 2003” * April 24. 2003 – First Meetingof the CBM Silicon Tracker (IReS) - Simulation studies of low-mass di-lepton needed Zbigniew Majka M.Smoluchowski Institute of Physics, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland ufmajka@cyf-kr.edu.pl

  3. Other events: * Net of Polish laboratories interested in physics at new International Facility at the GSI . * Contact with two groups in Krakow which work on PIXEL detectors (SUCIMA Project, MIMOSA, SOI) * Help from Krakow HADES Group. Zbigniew Majka M.Smoluchowski Institute of Physics, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland ufmajka@cyf-kr.edu.pl

  4. Goals of the simulation: * To develop methods for background suppression. * To define the properties of the electron detectors Method: * Identification of low mass vector mesons will be obtained via detection of di-electron from their decay (, ,   e+ + e- ) Tools: * URQMD (and other) codes – hadron multiplicities * PLUTOevent generator – to provide the most important sources of electrons * GEANT4 – transport simulation Poeple: * J. Cibor, R. Karabowicz, P. Staszel, P. Szostak, Z. M. Zbigniew Majka M.Smoluchowski Institute of Physics, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland ufmajka@cyf-kr.edu.pl
